Penny Loafer

While I was Memorial Day shopping, I saw the pair of shoes above at the Bass store at the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets in Michigan City. The "Penny Loafer" name didn't much sense till yesterday. Turns out the penny was inserted by preppy American students in the 1950s. Now the style is continued for a scholarly appearance (e.g. like lawyers).
