2015 Macbook Pro Transition

After almost a year without a full OS when my 2007 Macbook Pro dead, I finally took the plunge and got a 13" Macbook Pro. Thankfully for Time Machine, I had all my stuff backed up. I spent majority of yesterday recovering my memorable files and backing up the most valuable things to the Google platform.

The Macbook Pro seems super speedy to me; it probably has to do to the fact I used to using my ASUS Chromebook C300. Going from that non-HD display to the retina display was quite wonderful on the eyes; similarly to the transition from CRT TVs to 1080p.
So what have I learn from my transition to this new laptop?
I took over 7,000 pictures in my lifespan of my 2007 Macbook Pro. It took all day to upload all the photos to Google Photos. After it finished uploading, my positive opinion of the Google Photos service grew even more. Auto Awesome created animations, movies, and stories from the past 8-10 years. And it was pure awesomeness! Just look at the story Google created for my trip to the US Open.
The transition reaffirms my belief that most users (even me 99% of the time) will be happy enough with a Chromebook. While setting up this laptop, most of effort was just connecting my online accounts (e.g. Google) and downloading Google Chrome. Otherwise, Chrome was setup automatically due to synchronization and Apple does a great importing user data from other online platforms (e.g. contacts, mail).
With Google Play Music, I no longer feel like I need my iTunes/music collection locally anymore. Last year, having local music was high on my priority list.
I have yet to use force touch.
One of the best applications I have discovered: Radiant Player for Google Play Music. It is a dedicated application for Google Play Music that has the ability to use the rewind/play/pause/forward keys on the keyboard. I do wish it had Chromecast support though.
Next to be installed, Android Studio.
