Yesterday, I heard and read endless "Happy Birthday America"/"Happy Independence Day" and many more variations of the same statement which were very heartwarming and touching. We don't see it often; unfortunately, we observe much more disrespectful and obnoxious behavior more frequently.
Then, I saw people using "Merica"/"Murica" in substitution for "America" (\ə-ˈmer-ə-kə); intuitively, I felt that it was insulting to this country's history and its citizens. Ironically, the two seemingly inappropriate spellings/pronunciations is slang for extreme Patriotism. Here is the Google search trend for the two slang words:

Add the mispronunciations of America to the list on annoyances.
If you have free time, you should read The United States of America's Declaration of Independence. I hope you can read cursive!!! It's incredible reading a document that is over 237 years old; the style has changed (it feels so traditional and immortalized).
