Apartment Living

Once in a while, I feel restricted by the walls of my apartment. It isn't just because the square footage of my room is equal to a college dorm room though; truth be told, I probably don't have enough stuff to fill a space much larger. It's the other things that come along with living in an apartment complex that cramp my life. It's the little things like the kitchen isn't it's own room, so the slightest of smoke sets off the smoke detector nearby (just like my college days).
Then you have nearly no space between you and the neighbors, sometimes on all sides. This can be a hassle since disrupting one on the many neighbors next to, over/under your apartment is always a possibility with the paper thin walls (and ceilings/floors). Of course, you can also be the victim of disruptions like yelling, outrageous bass, and loud walkers. I thought there was nothing worse than having the balcony door opened and the neighbors below start smoking the worst smelling cigarettes to ever exist, which of course heads into your apartment. But someone mentioned to me that their neighbors smoke in their apartment so the smoke invades her apartment through the vents; that would be awful.
Sometimes I feel bad for the apartment under us, three twenty-something males in one apartment... There's plenty of running, basketball dribbling, and other noisy events that guys make. Surprisingly, we haven't gotten any complaints yet! (Even at the early hours of the mornings) We live a life like Seinfeld (just younger and in Indiana) and we even have our own Cosmo Kramer! (The New Yorker) But thankfully we don't have a Newman in our complex!
I remember one night during my freshmen year at UConn was spent trying to touch the ceiling by just jumping for a good half hour with my awesome roommate. The RA came to our room after a complaint (presumingly from the girls below) and asked "Are you guys furniture moving this late?". Being honest kids, we responded with "No, we are just trying to touch the ceiling." and then we bursted into laughter.
I wish I had a garage though. This would allow me to carve wood without worrying about disrupting my roommates but more importantly, I wouldn't have to carve in my homemade box to keep the dust in. It would convenient for the winters too; no scraping required. Electra would be nice and dry in the garage.
It would be great to have access to a water hose to clean Electra by hand too. It would especially be nice to have a hose to clean the rubber car mats.
