Black Thanksgiving
The invasion of Black Friday into Thanksgiving continues further this year. And I thought that last year's Black Friday was horrendous for ruining Thanksgiving... But with "Black Friday" coming in a couple weeks, news is coming in that retail stores plan on opening at 6pm and 8pm on Thanksgiving Day. Yes, "Black Friday" deals are going to be on Thursday before Thanksgiving dinner is even served in most households. Let's call it "Black Thanksgiving" deals.
In an effort to compensate for their employees working on Thanksgiving Day, Walmart has decided to give their employees a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I'm sure some employees would rather be at home spending time with their families. Now there will be even less family members at the dinner table in order to get deals for other holiday's gifts or working at retail stores. The push into earlier times will now affect the attention of lunch on Thanksgiving and maybe even get-togethers the night before Thanksgiving. Maybe families will setup dinner tables in line outside stores to celebrate Thanksgiving! On the positive side, people are willing to spends hours in lines to save money and get gifts for those around them?
This continues to support my concept for moving Thanksgiving. These changes are ruining one of the best holidays of year (comparable to Festivus).
