Broil Steaks
My favorite method of cooking steak is broiling (particularly in the winter). It probably takes 6 mins on each side and it's done. I'm always surprised when I hear of people that have never broiled anything in their lives. It's often called upside-down grilling; in the other parts of the world, they call broiling, "grilling" and the American grilling is called barbecuing.
Ribeyes are by far my favorite steaks to broil:

But there are precautions you should probably take. Since broiling uses much higher temperatures than baking, usually at over 500 degrees, and the food is quite close to the heating element (4-5 inches), there is a risk of a grease fire. This can be easily avoid by using a broiling pan which helps circulate the air/heat. But if you don't have a broiling pan, you can do what I did above: have the food on a rack with a pan to catch the fat while cooking. (The top of my broiling pan is at someone's place right now...)
You want to pre-heat the broiler but not too long as the heating element does not shut off; I like to pre-heat it for about 5-10 minutes. I like to keep the oven door slight opened so it doesn't get steamy while cooking and I can keep my eyes on the food since it will cook quickly.
Pro Tip: When using a broiler pan, put a cup of water in the pan to prevent smoke.
