Car "Problems"

A couple days ago, I had maintenance work done on Electra. I was initially only to get an oil change done. But as you know how it goes, nothing really goes as expected. I get a call from the dealership service department telling me I should get the "30k Mile Service Package". With no knowledge of cars and not much about maintenance besides regular oil changes (like many around me), I have to be ignorant and listen to the service people.
Though, I always feel like I'm getting ripped off especially since I'm going through the service department at a Honda dealership. It can't be a mentality thing stemming from my childhood viewing of Matilda... Can it...?

They recommended me to change the cabin air filter and it was going to cost $69... They told me it wasn't urgent so I didn't go for it. Intrigued by how difficult it would be to change the filter myself, I searched the Internet. Turns out it would take less than 2 minutes and the filter itself costs $18. I ordered the filter on Amazon on Tuesday and I received and installed it yesterday.
To be honest, it just feels like a mediocre $475.14 car wash that has been salted away by the winter.
