Change

"Why change it if it works?" is often asked. And I, personally, respond that it can be done better. The solution may not be the fastest but it may be more effective in the long run which may include maintenance costs. Everyday at work, I am constantly reminded of the fear that comes with change with the Windows XP operating system on my computer that has an Intel i5 processor. Windows XP came out in 2001, over 10 years ago! The operating system does not nearly come close to using the processing power the computer has and therefore not being as efficient as possible. While I understand software compatibility issues, I don't see a valid reason to hold the majority of people who would not have any compatibility issues from Windows 7. With many years of the same processes and procedures, it's difficult for people to accept changes and it is frustrating at times seeing how stubborn companies/people are.
I think most people see comfort in not making changes if they don't have to. It's just easier because there is no effort or work in staying in a constant pace. It's so easy to just fall back to what is comfortable and how it was before (For better or for worse). It takes courage to confront fears and difficult situations that may come with change. But in most cases (if not all), you come out as a stronger person and hopefully the change brings greater results. Even if the change results in a negative fashion, you, at least, leave with the experience that grows the area in which you are comfortable.
To be honest, without change, life would be extremely boring. I realized this in college after living most of my teenage years in a status quo. I didn't enjoy the feeling of being outside of my comfort zone and really enjoyed being in my own little bubble at all times. I did things in a certain way and never tried different things. But after years and years, I have come to see the light about change. It allows you to relate to others better with the experience. It allows you to be more comfortable in a wider range of situations and become a more well-rounded person. It'll definitely be interesting what changes I will be making and how it'll affect me. So, don't be afraid of change. Let it happen if it comes to you and make it happen if you want it to happen.
The world should listen to Tupac Shakur about change:
It's time for us as a people to start making some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we got to do, to survive.
