Chemistry

As I subbed in for someone at volleyball tonight, I realized the importance of team chemistry. Throughout all the games, it seemed like no one was talking to each other. Since I haven't played with this team before, it was difficult to judge who was going to go after which ball. There was basically dead energy on our side of the court; it was quite frustrating (my competitive nature). It wasn't that the players didn't have skill (I'm really good at volleyball!), it's just each individual just didn't click as a team. This must be how the Dallas Cowboys have felt the past couple years.
Sometimes it takes time to build up team chemistry. But also there are situations where it's extremely difficult for conflicting personalities to match up nicely. And there are the times where the chemistry is instantly amazing; this would be covalent bond of chemistry. This type of bond cannot be built up; only under the right conditions (like personalities and environment) it will truly occur. Having a common problem or goal certainly helps bring people together. It amazing to see what people can do with a common focus such cleaning up a natural disaster.
For my college friends and me, each individual's goal of graduating UConn with an engineering degree transformed into a greater goal. That greater goal was to have everyone in our group to graduate as a group without leaving a single soul behind. This was an amazing experience to be a part of since we achieved that objective. But don't get me wrong, there were some fighting and yelling but those times were easily demolished by the magnificently positive times. Even after a year and a half after graduating, we are still close even though I'm over 700 miles away from most of them.
Now with college over, what common goal do we have to go up against? Well, there's a thing called life... Life comes with numerous problems, as you probably know. These problems include relationships (well for some of us...), careers, health, deciding what to eat for dinner, deciding what song to shower to, and of course deciding which DSLR to buy... I'm sure I'll meet new people that I have amazing chemistry with while on this journey we call life. But what I absolutely do know is that I've already met some great friends already! (And can't wait to learn more about them!)
P.S. I have always been great with chemistry.
