Christmas Eve Silence
It was really odd being in Fort Wayne on Christmas. It's my first Christmas where I'm away from my parents' home in Cranston, Rhode Island. While we haven't taken part in the tradition of opening gifts in the morning with anxiety and jubilation since my early teens, I will definitely miss just being around my family on the rare occasion that my family is in one single location.
It was spooky seeing the city basically shut down, particularly 24/7 retail stores and fast food chains. In the City of Churches, it's not surprising seeing majority of stores closing their doors early on the eve of Christmas. It seems that most folks around here have stronger traditions on this day than when I was in Rhode Island (or I was just wasn't observant).
