Conversation
One of the great things about having a group of people that hasn't met everyone at the table is the unforeseen conversation. It's even better when you don't know majority of the people so you don't hear stories that you've heard before (not that it's never entertaining to hear stories multiple times). It's at these moments do you realize how distinct individuals and everyone has their own adventure in life.
Conversation topics may include simple topics like sports, music, and movies but they may also include more meaningful conversations. It's striking how talking to a different crowd can promote open discussion about things you wouldn't talk about with the usually people you talk to. The diversity and various perspectives of the different participants bring much more depth in the conversation. You get to listen to other people's experiences and hear what they enjoyed and their lessons learned. It's also their inspirations which bring such encouraging emotions.
I found myself truly enjoying everyone's company. At some points, I went into deep thought about my life and where it has been and where I would want it to go; the other people at the table probably thought I went brain dead for seconds at a time. Though, there is much thinking about my future left to do.
Tonight was reenforcement for a concept I think holds true: It's not about the place and all the things that it has to offer. It's about the people and who you surround yourself with.
