Cut and Wash
After multiple weeks of being indecisive about getting a haircut, I finally did it. There were days I would establish that the following day would be haircut day but when that time arrived, I would look in the mirror to amazing looking hair. Of course, that would deter me from going to the salon. Well, that and the fact I would have to drive there. But this morning, the hair was a pure annoyance; pricking my eye and not behaving in the morning (disrupting my efficient morning routine). The "swipe across" with the hand seemed to occur every minute to get the hair out of my viewing. It was time for it to go! This must be the same feeling that my parent felt about their children going to college.
With longer hair, I decided to go to a salon since those disastrous "Numbers" would not suit my liking. When the stylist (Jamie at "The Basement") asked for what I'm looking for, I answer with my usual "Shorter and as long as it looks good. But not bald." She goes ahead and verbalizes that she'll take off about an inch to an inch and a half. All I could do is agree since any length beyond an inch (which I would buzz myself back during my college years) was unknown territory to me. My estimate of an inch or two of my own hair would be similar to a child guessing what an inch or two of snow would be. So, I just went with the (go go gadget) flow and put trust for my beautiful thick textured hair in Jamie's hands.
And did those hands satisfy! The touch of someone's hands washing and massaging your head is spectacular. The price of $16 (without tip) was well-worth the entire experience. And her business card is pretty awesome too:

Oh yeah, the haircut turned out great too! While it looked good immediately after the cut (and they always seem to), the true test of a fresh haircut is after the first shower.

So I decided to abandon my Suave 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, and go to the two bottled process. My previous buying method would be to buy whatever was on sale. This eliminated nearly 90% of the entire haircare selection. After spending several minutes in front of the haircare aisle, I couldn't even decide on the brand. After consulting a stranger with good looking hair (I'm not positive if she had amazing hair since I don't know what good hair looks like. I admit in hair commercials, I sometimes think the "Before" seem better.), I settled with TRESemmé Moisture Rich Shampoo and Moisture Rich Conditioner.
As with most conditioners, I really don't know when I'm done rinsing...
The price of hygiene is expensive... With the shampoo, conditioner, Pronamel toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss, I will have to look at my budget to see if I can afford Whopper Wednesday this month!
