What is the maximum distance you would drive for a day's visit? The better question is probably how long would you drive to and from a destination in a day?
Before moving to Indiana, it was probably one hour one way maximum if I was going to drive by myself. Now that I live in the Midwest, it's expanded to about three hours until it's probably too much time in the car for a day visit (since places are further apart). This is especially true on weekends. With the drive there and drive back, that's a quarter of an entire day spent driving. Oh how spoiled Northeasterners have become where driving to another state takes no more than 2 hours.
I can't wait till fully autonomous cars!
