Eating Food
Growing up as an innocent boy aspiring to be an engineer (not really, I thought it was be the best being a garbage man as I thought they only worked one day the entire week), I wondered if I could possibly survive off vitamins and other nutrient enriched pills and not eat real food. This concept was inspired by my obsession for Flintstones vitamins.

As it turns out, I'm not the only one to think of this. Soylent was created just for this purpose and it's basically meals in liquid form (well, it's powder and oil that you mix with water). And if you feel up to it, you can make your own. This is quite interesting... Could it help reduce world hunger?
So are products like Soylent the future of food? No. It's a definite no. To be clear, Soylent is food and not a supplement; nor is it the first liquid diet. While it is cheap and fast, there are just too many drawbacks from not eating. Even in a country that concentrates on dieting and eating healthy, we still love tasting. While our European counterparts often mock American for our eating habits and how we interpret eating, we continue to enjoy meals with good company. We could probably take a tip from their lifestyle though.
Our days are moving so fast already especially with constant moment on our moment devices, I don't think we need to essentially get rid of our meals. They provide a "mandatory" down time in our busy lives and if you do it right, your taste-buds will be satisfied with various flavors. But for me, it's become more than just down time. It's family and friend time; it's a simple method of getting people together (maybe the simplest). Experiencing various flavors and cuisines is so ingrained in our lives; I can't see that being replace any time soon. Food isn't just about surviving; it's social.
So I ask my readers, should I give Soylent a try?
