Eff it! We'll Do It Live!

A few years ago, Bill O'Reilly went viral with a video where he's states "Eff it! We'll do it live!" but not exactly "Eff it!". He really gets truly upset with the teleprompter and doesn't know what to do when told to "play us out". He is a true professional and I guess I could have the pleasure of working with him in the future. For the few who hasn't seen it, here you go:
With the Olympics being in London and five whole hours ahead of the Eastern Standard Time, NBC has decided to delay the showing of some of the Olympic games. And with NBC paying over $1 billion for this Olympics, they certainly have the rights to do that. But this doesn't suit the general public very well. With the world becoming more connected than any other time in history, it's important to be up to date with current events as soon as they happen. Yes, hours and minutes (And even seconds) matter significantly. This especially holds true for sports.
Sports have an unpredictable factor to them that make it so exciting. And if you remove that factor, the suspense and build-up seems to disappear. As a result of NBC delaying the showing of events like Michael Phelps, the trill and drama (which they spends millions on building) is gone. And with the internet and social networks, it is nearly impossible to not encounter the Olympic results (even with the spoilers alerts). And for me, it's almost worthless to watch the event if I know the result in advance since it would be dull and suspenseful.
While all the events are steamed online, if you don't have an account with a cable company, you won't be able to watch the live events. So that is why network television is so important; those who don't have cable will be able to watch and support their respective country.
So why doesn't NBC take a page from Bill O'Reilly's and just do it live?!
NBC's choice of which sports are broadcasted on which channels are a totally different issue not to be discussed here. (I'm just going to say, Badminton over cycling please)
P.S. I think I can be a Olympic Sand Volleyball with enough practice! I think I proved it out on the court this afternoon.
