Enough With Messenger Apps!
Google is rumored to be working on another messenger application. This comes after losing WhatsApp to Facebook who paid a whopping $19 billion. Not much is known about the service. That's hilarious to me because not many people know about Google Hangouts either. It's definitely a niche group of users; others even still call it gtalk or Google Talk. Google never had a consensus of their messaging application, not have they attempted to market it well. But that's not surprising since Google has not been good at promoting their products; instead, they tend to rely on word of mouth.
There was even an article on Android Central where the author used Hangouts for two weeks and won't stop using it. That's an avid Android user and he is just now starting to realize how great Hangouts is?! That's absurd! I don't think Google needs to create an entire new messaging service. We are living in a world where so many people think new is always better; the mobile application industry has proven that. In a sense, new let's you have a fresh start and can spur into different use cases. But do people want to continuous start over in their messaging service; I know I don't!
But just maybe, Google has something that will surprise us.
