Even Steven

Remember that show on the Disney Channel with Shia LaBeouf and Christy Romano as the Louis and Ren Stevens? Yup, it was Even Stevens. It was a slight reunion when Tom Virtue joined Shia LaBeouf in Transformer 3. The most odd character had to have been played by Steven Lawrence as "Beans" who was obsessed with bacon and was the annoying enemy neighbor of Louis but yet you could still feel the love between them.
Enough about the show, I swear I have written about being Even Steven in life but a quick search on my blog determined that I haven't described my condition. The origin of the phrase "Even Steven" is unclear. Similar to Jerry Seinfeld, I am an Even Steven.
While not as transparent or immediate as Seinfeld's case, I have my moments too. The day I fixed the dent on Electra, I dropped my Galaxy S3 that damage it's enclosure. I wash out a stain out of one shirt, I put a stain on another. I buy a shirt and another shirt gets caught on something to create a hole making it unwearable. I had an important tennis match but couldn't make it due to another commitment; it gets rained out. One week Indiana Bo dominates; another week two of its players get injured. Being Even Steven is also a little extra bit of motivation to help out in my free time (but that's just my natural personality to help when I am able). I haven't noticed if the highs and lows of my friends even up though...
Being Even Steven is neither a curse or a blessing. It's just an extremely neutral feeling. But I wish I could be as confident in the Even Steven in me as Jerry Seinfeld is. While I do play lottery when the jackpot is huge, a bit of me wishes I don't win because of the unforeseen consequences.
Just the other day, I dropped my phone that crack the glass; I have yet to bounce back from that but I'm sure it'll come soon enough. I just have to wait it out!
