Ever Worry?
For those who live by yourself, do you ever worry that you'll get into a situation where your life could be in danger and no one would find out for days? This may sound absurd to you and it's probably irrational for me to concoct such situations in my mind. Without family nearby, I don't expect them to check up on me with frequent spontaneous visits. Without any pets (and a life that wouldn't be optimal for them), there won't be any miraculous pet life saving stories for me.
This is where one of the benefits of being a relationship or a marriage come into effect (maybe? I don't know personally). There is an extra sense of security of having someone that is closer than any friend or family member may be. And the best aspect of it all is that it is a social responsibility to care and check up on that special someone often (along plenty of duties). It's basically a social agreement to worry, protect, and provide for the other person in the good times and the times of need. While there can be some issues of the level of independence that will be had, it is probably outweighed by the peace of mind of having someone caring for you so intently.
