Every aspect of life has its fan and its haters. But in music, fans are extremely vocal and affects the overarching assessment of certain artists. Sometimes it difficult to find the reasoning behind the perception. Like where the bandwagon to hate the band, Nickelback, come from? It has grown in such large number that we forget that they gave us the "How You Remind Me" hit. Or when did disliking Dave Matthew's Band become a deadly sin? And for any boy bands not named NSYNC or Backstreet Boys, you're going to be automatically criticized by anyone over the age of twelve.
But coming from the New England, I don't understand the animosity for the entire genre of Country music. Maybe the redneck stereotype keeps the cynics away. It certainly cannot be the subject of the music since it usually contains the same topics of other music genres (love and drinking). As with other genres, there will be artists that I don't like and some that I love; you just have to find a personal preference. So before you say "I like all types of music except country" (like I once did a long time ago), give the genre a serious try and maybe even take a roadtrip.
I've been in a country music phase as of late. Particularly, Kacey Musgraves' Same Trailer Different Park and Brad Praisley's extremely sappy "She's Everything".
I am loving Kacey Musgraves right now though. Great voice. And has a fun with her music.
