First Climb
I went rock climbing for the first yesterday at Hoosier Heights (rock walls) and it was a grand old time! I wouldn't call myself strong but decently athletic with much control on my body. Rock climbing verified that I have no endurance of strength. Though, it truly tested what I thought I could do with my body. It's so much easier to just say "put your foot on that rock" when you're just standing on the ground instead of hanging by four rocks (one of which will give you absolutely no leverage to get any higher). The first couple wall climbs were pretty easy as I had much of my strength still (pull ups! Probably the wrong method of climbing). As I lost my endurance, tactical climbing was more critical and I lacked the capacity to control my legs as I wanted to.
It did not help that I'm afraid of heights... Sweaty hands certainly do not benefit in any way.
I plan on my upper body to be sore tonight or tomorrow. I definitely lost the ability to grip after the climbing session; it made it awkward to do the simplest of tasks (e.g. wiping).
The people at Hoosier Heights were great and super friendly.
