Fit Wayne
As you know as an avid reader of this blog, Fort Wayne has high obesity rate (ranking one of the highest in America) with crazy soda consumption and overflowing with unhealthy chain restaurants. There has been a recent developments in the selection of restaurants in the city. A good number of chain restaurants (e.g. steak houses, fast food joints) have recently closed their business. Local businesses are catering to a younger and more active crowd while trying to entice families, which make up majority of the city, at the same time.
But the trend for a healthier city does not just stop there. Several new "healthy" market will be in place by summer's end to hopefully increasing health awareness. From the couple trips I have made to one the stores, it already seems to be a success with the "organic" and "healthy" marketing. Food is definitely pricier at these markets; being healthy isn't cheap. But the reduced trips eating out should help counteract costs. It's difficult for me to stop my habit of going out to eat so often though. (It's been over two full days since I went out to eat!)
