Forget Tap-To-Pay Payments?
If you've read this blog or discussed the future of payments with me, you know I'm a big advocate of going walletless. Currently, the options are QR Codes, Looppay (Soon to be Samsung Pay) mimicing magnetic swipes, and the most common, Tap-to-Pay. I just wish more smart watches were capable of tap-to-pay payments so you don't have to go through the hassle of taking out the phone.
But I somehow I missed when Google's Hands Free was announced...
Confused? Well, I was left curious about how it works too... And the Google site for Hands Free isn't very informative. All we know is it's convenient, secure, and will only be available at McDonald's and Papa Johns in the San Francisco Bay area for product testers. You have to give it to McDonald's on keeping up with the latest technology on payments.
But it looks like the key phase to pay is "I'd like to pay with Google" (and maybe rub a baby's head). It'll be interesting to see how the customer's identity is confirmed or what the method of false positives from occurring will be.
While this technology is quite a ways away, it gives me confidence I won't have to carry my wallet around throughout my lifetime.
