Gates
In the news today, Bridgegate in New Jersey. Remember Apple's Antennagate debacle in 2010 where the phone would completely lose signal when you cover a portion of the phone? Before that, there was Spygate involving the New England Patriots stealing call signs from the New York Jets.
All these "gates" of course started with the infamous Watergate scandal that ultimately led to Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974. Ever since then, scandals have been named with the suffix "gate". Turns out, I'm not the first to recognize this trend and a Wikipedia page is dedicated to it.
My favorites: Napgate and Pastagate
