Gender Neutral Songs
Have you ever intensely sing along with a song and instantaneously stop because the song isn't gender neutral? This has happened all too often in my car or while foolish "dancing" on a dance floor (because singing makes the lousy dance easier). As a male, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, and Beyonce seem to be the prominent artists to have highly sing-alongable songs that have this embarrassing gender-specific effect. I can't imagine being a woman in a modern dance club particularly with male dominant artists sexually with vulgar and gender degrading lyrics in much of the music; must be slightly awkward... Maybe that's why there's so much drinking...
I wonder if gender-specific songs are liked/favorited heavily by one gender rather than equally.
"Waterfalls" by TLC is much more gender neutral when you know the correct lyrics and don't think the words are "Don't go Jason Waterfalls". Personally, I feel much more comfortable singing along with the actual lyrics.
