Getting the High

Happy Friday everyone! I just finished a quick run. A great half hour run around the neighborhood in the beautiful partly cloudy sky with the perfect temperature. This comes after a few days of not doing much aerobic exercise. So, I was itching to get some running into my schedule. When the clock struck two o'clock, the hunger for running was no other. This happened yesterday too but it eventually resulted in a nap. When I got out of work, I didn't have the appetite for exercise like I did before but I ran. Within two songs into my workout, I felt it.
I felt something I haven't felt since probably eighth grade. I got Runner's High. For those who don't know what it is, it's the spectacular feeling you can get when running and you don't ever want to stop because it's so amazing. There are tons of non-believers out there. My running career started in middle school and ended in middle school. Three years of cross country and track was enough to burn me out of the sport of running! Running at the Hugh B. Bain Middle School Track was a great time. But eventually, it became boring (Maybe because it's the same every time). After competitive running for three years, I was done with it. Now I only run to get better at tennis or just to live longer. Now a days, I can't run as much because of shin splints.
There may be no better feeling than Runner's High (At least for a purely exercising activity). Legs move like a locomotive, never wanting to stop. Hills are the best part for me, especially with the high, because I push up hills faster than leveled parts of the run. This always makes me feel awesome and motivates me to push myself harder. I may not be a dedicated runner anymore but it's great to do on occasion.
