Guardian of this Blog
It's been a while seen I've watched a movie at the theater, let alone IMAX. But I broke that today by watching Guardians of the Galaxy at IMAX; it must have been the daily popcorn poppings that incepted the idea of watching a movie in my head. I'm disappointed by the IMAX here in Fort Wayne since it's about 20% smaller than real IMAX screens but it was still quite an immersive experience. 3D technology is definitely getting more effective, probably since films aren't pushing the novelty of it into the audience's face.
To be honest, I don't know much about superhero comics besides the main ones (Superman/Batman/Iron Man) so I hadn't heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy before hearing the great reviews it had been receiving. Naturally, I had decent expectations for the film and even expected a comedic superhero movie based on criticism. My resolution to not have too much expectations had been impossible to avoid.
While the film wasn't a comedy I was expected, it was a decent superhero movie with several hilarious parts. It was much better than Captain America (the first one) but that's not saying much. Chris Pratt has really hit his Hollywood stride ever since Parks and Rec; a television star turned movie star. Not knowing what the movie was about definitely made the film very interesting; my favorite character, Rocket, caught me by total surprise since I didn't even watch the trailer for the film. It's worth seeing if you enjoy superhero movies in the slightest, especially Marvel films since you get Stan Lee's cameos.
