Growing up, Chinese New Year was more of the few holidays my family celebrated. It is no surprise since it is the most significant holiday in the Chinese culture. I have documented on how my family celebrate the new year this previous post.
Around this time every year, I realize how seldom I see my family throughout the year. I haven't been at my parent's house for Chinese New Year since leaving for college as a puppy husky. The last time I was home, I saw this:
It (especially the pieces of brown candy) really struck me emotionally on how much I have missed celebrating the new year with my family. I will make an effort to be home for the next new year, February 19th, 2015.
But 2014 is the year of the horse! So I will make it my goal to learn to ride a horse! Well, at least ride a horse for the first time in my life.
