How was your weekend?

Yesterday was the best day of the week and this week it included two birthdays to make it even more rememberable. Since it was a Monday morning, I was inquired by multiple people (holding their coffee, of course) about how my weekend was; my response was "It was good. I didn't do much." Each person responded with something similar to "It's good to have those weekends sometimes." Maybe my response affected their reaction but I feel like this says plenty about the lives we live in; we feel the need to be doing something all the time.
What if my goal was actually to "not do much" because I had a busy week and just needed a relaxing break? The reactions to my weekend were more towards the sympathetic side or seemingly automatically underestimates my days off from work. Maybe I just don't know how to properly answer the question on how my weekend went. Should I tell them minuscule details about my weekend on how I spent a period of time on my bed just pondering about life? Or how I went on a calming walk around a corn field? I'm sure I would get the same demeaning "It's good to have those weekends sometimes" response even though I throughly enjoy it.
Sometimes, I feel like every Monday morning the same people ask how my weekend was; each and every time, they hope I have something absolutely exciting to tell them. I'm sorry I let them down for the most part; it's not every weekend I have life changing moments like get engagement, married, or even win the lottery (hopefully each of those will occur sometime in the "near" future).
Any suggestions how to respond to the old-aged question "How was your weekend?"
Maybe I should respond with a resounding, "Forget the weekend, it's the best day of the week and I can't wait for what it will bring!" I would expect a couple of things to occur: I will receive a few different looks including but not limited to angry, "you're crazy", eye rolls, or just pure happiness and I predict the number of people who ask how my weekend was would steadily decrease until it's just the Monday lovers (which is extremely rare).
Let me ask you: How was your weekend?
