Ice-Breaker

After a year of working and plenty of experience with dealing annoying habits of others, I think I may have found the ultimate annoyance. It may be worse than music that is just loud enough to hear but not recognizable. It may allow be worse than the sounds of nail clipping in the office. It unexpectedly started last week when an intern entered the area. It was a quiet afternoon when it embarked! "It" was the appalling sound of chomping on ice.
Just imagine Chain Chomp from Super Mario, going at ice constantly for an entire afternoon. And there is no way Chain Chomp has any manners too, he is chomping like a maniac. If it's possible to chew ice with your mouth open, these two do. That's only pet peeve, chewing with their mouth open. And it's not only the chewing that is obnoxious, the action of getting the ice from the bottle produces an unwelcoming sound. Maybe I was easily irritated today but after 4 hours of it, I am glad I'm not listening to it anymore.
But who can really blame him for chomping on ice? I will not lie; I am a huge fanatic of ice. I love crushed ice the best since you can still chew on it but it's not as difficult as a block. And one does not have to make a big scene to try to get crushed ice from a cup like one does with blocked ice. And the shaved stuff is great but there is no chew factor to them. Just remember, chewing on ice can harm your teeth! (I should probably tell this to the intern)
