Internet Nostagia and The Future

I've been noticing the internet has been very nostalgic. Especially in my generation, Generation Y, which grew up with the internet. Many things from the 80s and 90s have been popping up on the internet and has gone viral. Like, "IT'S OVER 9000!" from Dragon Ball. This is just one of many 90s show to come back into conversation due to the internet. The internet has a huge nostalgia factor.
Facebook's new timeline is capturing people's lives and allows users to go back to anytime and reminisce about the past. I think this has people's interest because of the nostalgia factor to it. This is what the internet has been leaning towards this direction. Capturing memories and allowing people to access it any time.
With this, I ask, will this make people focus on the past more than the future? Will people reminisce about their past more than before due to the internet? There is certainly a special emotion about nostalgia and I am not totally against it. But something has to be said about reliving the past too much. There should be a limit because how beneficial could it be?
I hope this doesn't affect how people think of the future. There must be a way to convince people to think less of the past and provide an easier way of thinking of the future. A service that will allow users to communicate ideas with each other, similar to how Facebook allows communication about the past. There are currently sites like TED talks, FORA, and many institutions that provide thought provoking videos. But these don't seem to have an easily accessible method of having conversations of these ideas. At least not a clear method to the user for proper and effective communication. Twitter and Facebook allow for the sharing of ideas but there seems to be a ton of noise on each site. So it would be a great to have a specific filter for certain topics and such.
Also, I would love to see a easier way where anyone can express their ideas and get feedback from experts or interested parties. I will not ignore the fact there are communities for specific topics throughout the internet but some do not provide much feedback as one would like. It's also good to hear feedback from more a general audience. I would love to hear other people's thoughts about this subject.
