Is there a difference?

Is there a difference between a chocolate brownie and a chocolate muffin? Is a chocolate muffin just a big brownie that is more socially accepted for breakfast? I feel it may have been a work around invented by a kid to have brownie on Saturday mornings with their cartoon.
