Join The Club

As the Master's starts today, it is a reminder that there is a special club that you may never get the opportunity to join; you can't also "pay" to enter it since it is invite only. I'm, of course, talking about being a member of the Augusta National Golf Club located in Augusta, GA where the PGA Masters Tournament is held annually. The exact number of members is entirely unknown but the list includes past presidents and very influential people; it is estimated that there are about 300 people members.
For you non-sports types, you may have would of the controversy of the club being an only-male organization last year; after much publicity, they added two women to the membership, Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore. It was surprising IBM CEO Ginni Rometty wasn't invited since she sparked the entire controversy again by being the first female CEO of the company (the previous four CEOs were invited to the join).
So what are the benefits of being in the prestigious club that costs thousands to join? Supposedly the annual costs of the club is much cheaper than other outstanding golf courses. One benefit is you can play on one of the best golf courses in the world (well, I hope they can). Another advantage of being a member is that you get the opportunity to wear the infamous Green Jacket while you're at the club without having to win the Masters! There are only two Green Jackets that are allowed out of the premises of club; one that can be taken by the current Masters champion and one with Gary Player (won the Masters in 1961) in South Africa. So, what is the point of being a member if you can't show off the Green Jacket to everyone?! I guess I'll just have to win the Masters...
There are plenty of very selective clubs in this world including Disney's Club 33, American Express Centurion Card Holders (Not to be confused with Visa's Black Card), and Champions at Wimbledon. But there isn't a purpose of any of these groups without the comfort of being with people you enjoy being with. These conglomerates have gaggles of people with similar qualities, like having a significant amount of money or being really good at something.
Being a reader of this blog may lead you into only of the most exclusive clubs in the history of human civilization! I am formally announcing a secret society that have strict requirements! The name will be chosen by the founding class to be announced in private soon! The benefits are outstanding! So what can you do to improve your chances to get invited? Be yourself. Commenting on the blog can't hurt either!
P.S. Are you sure that the Green Jacket is green?
