Just Call Me Bo.

From now on, you can call me Bo. Yes, Bo, just like the presidential dog! It is a name that I didn't make up myself. The full nickname is actually Bo Huangski (Pronounced like one word), which was also given to me. From my personally experience, you cannot really choose your own nickname. Just look at the famous nickname, you have Batman, Spiderman, A-Rod, Big Baby Davis, and of course The Fox in the Box (Alex Morgan). It just comes naturally and you can't really force it, unless you have persistence.
For example, a good friend Scott received his current nickname from just an mistaken introduction at work by a co-worker (Luckily other friends were there to witness such a wonderful moment). To this day, he answers to the name of Scott. Sometimes he doesn't even respond to his actual name (which has been forgotten by everyone). Scott has even written an excellent blog post on the event and past nicknames. (It is well-written blog (Probably proof-read), which I would encourage my readers to read) Then, you have Marv who used to go by Mary; the printing of an Euchre (Terrible card game) tournament bracket is to blame. I'm pretty sure she doesn't really like her nickname but it is what it is. We also have 2.0 (Pronounced two point O) because I decided we couldn't possibly have two Matt's in the same group of people. This came with unintended consequences since I would naturally be 1.0... And everyone knows the quote goes "If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0"
For me, I've had nicknames ranging from Matt (Of course), Four Eyes, Chink, TW, T-Dubs, Lil' Huang (Due to be being the baby of the family), and now of course, Bo Huangski. I will not lie; I am currently pushing Bo after failed attempts of getting T-Dubs to catch on. Maybe I should start my name tag idea... As I said before, persistence and determination will be the only way the name will stay relevant. And luckily, I possess those qualities in ~ large quantity. I'm pretty sure I've had my arm held up longer than Barney Stinson waiting for a high five. And without my relentlessness, Scott wouldn't be Scott, Marv wouldn't be Marv, 2.0 wouldn't be 2.0, someone named Todd wouldn't be Tom, and of course people wouldn't use ~'s all the time.
Update: I don't know how I forgot one of my FAVORITE nicknames ever: Mattarang Tang-Wang Huang!!! Thanks Fonzie Pants!
So just remember, nicknames can and will sprout out of nowhere. You can try to avoid the worst ones (Just don't do anything stupid) but you may just one be one of the unlucky few. But remember, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
P.S. Really Snoop? Snoop Lion? Come on! Snoop Dog actually sounded fine; it was really similar to Snoopy.
