Kickstarter
Sometimes I browse Kickstarter for enjoyment and get really confused when some of the most useless products get funded. The latest one is The Hug which uses an accelerometer to measure how much water/liquids you have taken in. For a product that doesn't provide much usefulness (yet...), it's crazy how it's raised over $10k with 146 backers. Who needs an accelerometer that only measures your drink intake? I guess I just don't see the upside to this product... I saw another product that is probably more useful; it sensed what type of liquid what was in the bottle.
But then you have the Kickstarters that warms your heart because of random kindness. The most recent has to be Potato Salad. Over $55k funded by almost 7k backers. I can't even begin properly describing how awesome this act of random kindness is, so just visit the Kickstarter.
Of course Kickstarter has started successfully products too. Just to name a few: Pebble Watch, The Veronica Mars Movie, 3D printers, Oculus Rift, numerous boardgames, and recently the Reading Rainbow. Crowdfunding is definitely making a way for products that may not get a chance to succeed otherwise; it's truly amazing (if promises are met).
Any suggestions for a Kickstarter I should start?!
