Life Without A Job
So what's it like to have no job?
Well, every single day someone will ask you if you have a job yet. The tone in which they ask makes it seem that life is all about having a conventional job. After responding "No", I consider looking online for a job for a second then realize how terrible of an experience that is. I'm throughly convinced that I won't get my dream job from an online application.
I must admit that days feel much longer without a job. The fact that everyone around me expects me to have a job makes it worse. Also, not having health insurance and other traditional benefits (including the whole salary thing) does not help.
I have this terrible mindset that I'm trying to let go that I'm losing the opportunity to build up my net worth everyday I don't work. That value on my Mint.com account is so visible unlike other aspects of live (e.g. happiness).
It has definitely been an increased emotional rollercoaster; whether this is negative or positive has yet to be seen. I'm definitely enjoying new experiences and taking time to see what others are doing. I've possibly been busier now than I was a couple months ago. Never stop exploring.
While I'm trying to find what I want my next step in life to be, I'm trying to help others as much as I can. That could be giving product advice/opinions to startups/companies, volunteering, or even taking on photography gigs to improve my skills. In doing so, I'm meeting tons of great people, learning, and improving skills.
