Long Drive

Today, my cousin and I drove back to the Mid-West, enduring the 13 hours of driving. The adventure started early in the morning, at 7am, which is a ridiculously earlier start to the day then the previous days. Thinking optimistically, it'll help me prepare for work tomorrow morning, when I get back to to the regular routine.
Long traveling times always seems to change my body's schedule. Traveling definitely affects my sleeping schedule. I sleep at any opportunity especially when there is nothing else to do; and in a car, there isn't much to do at all. Sleeping even when I know I don't need the rest just affects my sleeping routine later on that night.
Then, the eating schedule is all messed up. Wanting to affect the ETA as little as possible, I try to only eat when we gas up. Today, that meant we ate lunch at about 3. As a result, I didn't eat dinner till about 10. This will cause serious issues in the morning when I'm starved like crazy. Isn't it funny how if you eat a large meal later in the night, you are hungrier in the morning than you would be if you ate less? This will be a issue only to be solved by a muffin in the AM.
It's always good to travel with someone that requires little to no stops. It was great since we only needed to stop twice. Both for gas and combined the second with lunch at McDonald's. It's nice not having to stop solely for bathroom breaks. Allows us to keep at it on the road reaching our final destination without delay.
The ride was made more enjoyable with the ability to listen to the various bowl games. As a Michigan State student, my cousin has quite the school spirit. No where close to my UConn Husky Pride, of course. But since UConn didn't make it to a bowl games, we listened to the Outback Bowl, MSU/Georgia. What a great game! 3 Overtime periods. It seemed to be a great comeback with tons of luck for the Spartans. It was so exciting even when listening on the radio! (I'm watching the Rose Bowl as we speak and Stanford just missed the game winning FG, wow)
It was bit a snowy at times on the drive back but nothing too heavy to stop Electra from driving on. She will need an oil change and a well deserved wash though. I did see a few cars that diverged from the road and resulted in being stuck in the ditch besides the freeway. Hopefully no one was injured. Otherwise, the trip was a great success and made it back safely and happy. What more can one ask for?!
