Lunch Boxes

Everyday I walk into work at 7:30 or earlier with my Star Wars lunch box (containing a plain turkey sandwich on Oatnut bread, Sunchips, and a Yolait yogurt) and my blue Camelbak water bottle. Majority of the time (83%), I usually get at least a smile when I walk by a coworker that sees my lunch box. I'm not sure if they get a bit of nostalgia or they think I'm just a kid (often younger than their own children).
The idea of the lunch box is a bit confusing to me though. Did the the concept start at schools and the work force just adopt it? This has some merit since the adults may just want to go back to relive the days they had lunch boxes. Or did the adults have lunch boxes first? This is logical since children always want to be just like their parents/heroes.

The concept of the lunch box began with people using tobacco tins to carry their meals. Since then, it's been a critical aspect of grade school and how children can express themselves. I had the coolest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lunch box with the thermo cup (the cap could be used in a cup too). After elementary school though, I began using brown bags since the lunch box was too big and the books were bulky enough for my small body.
And my plain turkey sandwich is a upgrade from the delectable bologna (Oscar Mayer of course) sandwiches from grade school I used to pack in my awesome lunch box; I used to love them and the other kids laughed at me. For those who had bologna sandwiches also, did you eat the red rings around the meat?! I did sometimes... I didn't know if I was suppose to or not... (I still don't know)
Lunch boxes are as important as the birds and the bees; too bad the generations ahead of us will most likely have less bees, hopefully not less cool lunch boxes. I wished I had owned the Jurassic Park lunch box set; I would have been the coolest kid in school! I can't wait to see the movie again tonight!
What lunch box did you have?
