Moving Back
I've said that moving is the worst thing in life. Now, I'm moving back to Rhode Island with my parents. Moving into my parent's place for the first time since high school isn't the worst feeling though. I am a millennial, so I should be comfortable with it right? The worst part is knowing that a move to another place is hopefully happening not too long after this move.
The headache of packing of my stuff in containers. Having to discontinue all my services, transfer other services to the new address, and other terribly boring tasks. The worst aspect has to be the million little things that need to be packed or thrown away (e.g. items in the fridge, stuff thrown under the bathroom sink). I had so much more stuff than I had expected; so much for being a minimalist...
Knowing that I had less than the minimum space/weight for most moving companies, I knew I had no chance of being overcharged for going over an estimate given. So, I hired some sketchy movers (mostly to save several hundred dollars). And I got what I deserved. Movers were delayed a day (so far) and their communication was awful (the phone number given to me was inactive and I had to call them for updates).
(Warning: If you don't know how much stuff you have, make sure you use a moving company that actually does a in-home estimate in person. The companies that quote you low prices tend to pry customers and charge ridiculous amounts if they go over the space/weight in the estimate.)
In other news, I'm driving back to RI tomorrow and am welcoming any phone calls if you want catch up, tell me your problems, hear my thoughts on the Presidential Election, or just want to say hi.
