Music Timeline

(Yeah, that's me probably playing a classic on piano. With my grandma in the background! Love it!)
As with many others, I have distinct relationship between life and music. Some songs simply just bring up memories from years instantly. It pretty amazing how the brain creates such connections. How the amazing songs from The Lion King reminds of the getting the movie on VHS and watching it with my siblings and cousins. Then, songs I played on the piano from the likes of Bethoven, Mozart, and Scott Joplin remind me of the childhood days. Those insane Saturday mornings rushing to learn the songs assigned the week before. I'm so glad my parents forced lesson on me, taught me much life lessons. How N'SYNC sadly reminds of the memories of when DVD's just started to get popular. Then, with the song "Yeah" started the absolutely ridiculous Lil' Jon craze.
But there are also songs that may remind you of multiple events. For example, "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie reminds me of my brother's obsession of singing that song but also reminds me of the end of senior year of college with one of my Huskymates bringing it back (What a crazy couple of weeks we had in that apartment). Then, you have classics like Graduation by Vitamin C, reminding everyone around the world of the happy teary moments of Graduation. Vitamin C also reminds me of Zox's Canon. What a great band, Providence represent! There you go! :)
Even though 99.9% of the music I listen to don't relate to me personally, I enjoy all types of music. The subjects just don't apply to me very often. Love, Sex, Drugs, Money, Depression just don't really hit me very personally. (*Random*I hope you don't take it the wrong way, You look better with the lights offs tonight tonight. What does Racks on Racks on Racks mean? *Random*) For reasons unknown to me, the music really helps me get in certain moods. How does Lil' Wayne get me so hyped up for anything? Maybe the beat, maybe the outrageous lyrics. How does Jason Mraz sooth and create a great environment to study to? Probably the word play.
Seems like whistling in songs have become very popular lately. I'm really enjoying this and appreciating that I can whistle! I think I may be getting better. But not close to the best whistler I've ever heard, Dave. When Dave whistles, I think an angel just entered the room and I feel I'm in heaven.
There should be an application or such to capture these connections between music and time. Who wouldn't want to meet up with friends and play songs from the past and reminisce of the good ole days. If anyone wants to talk about maybe doing this, just talk to me, I have ideas in my head of how I would build it.
