My Apartment
When I walked into my apartment on Friday, an empty scent blasted me in the face. It wasn't a blast of heat since the temperature was only set high enough to keep the pipes unfrozen. It was a scent of a place that had been abandoned and no one has been living in there for months, if not years. The place was like how it was left but less lively. It's really weird how a place can produce such a scent without any happening.
At this point, my apartment is just really expensive storage.
As I packed last night as I did for months before, I only realized how much I missed the convenience of having all my stuff. While it's not much, it's something that I continually miss. Not having to live in a suitcase is something I'll treasure. I miss the feeling of having shoes to choose from or look at clothes and say "I haven't worn this in ages". Laying on my own couch, entertainment from my Xbox One, sleeping in familar scents, and eating in the comfort of my own home with something I cooked. I miss it all. And if every trip, I start to recognize what seemed unimportant to be fundamental to a comfortable lifestyle.
What do you think I'll miss next?!
PS Never wakes you up like the alarm goes off when a gate door opens without authorization.
