Not a Pet Owner

At this point of my life, I don't see myself owning a pet in my life. Don't get me wrong, I love all types of pets, including cats, dogs, and rats, but I just don't think they fit into my lifestyle very well.
The major logic is that I couldn't provide a pet with the love that I would want a pet to have. I wouldn't want to leave a pet alone for majority or even 5-6 hours of the day; I would feel sorry for not being attentive/caring. This thinking is slightly contributed by the fact that I hear the dog from the apartment under me crying when her owner goes away, even if it's for a hour or two.
Traveling is difficult with a pets as leaving for a weekend or even an entire day is nearly impossible without having caretakers take your place while you're away. For me, without family nearby, it would be hard to find someone to take care of my pets without feeling too burdensome (that's what family is for right? Friends are for taking you to the airport). You could take pets with you traveling but the responsibility and care needed can be a bit too much for some people. Finding pet friendly hotels, restaurants, and other locations can be troublesome; babies are much easier in this aspect. Also, hopefully the pet can easily accustom to the new environment; else, it might be problematic.
Again, I'm not anti-pet, just not right for me at this time. This is a reminder for future me why I shouldn't get a pet. I'll give your pet all the attention it can handle if I see it though.
What are your thoughts on pets? What do you do when you go on vacation/day trips/weekend getaways?
