Once A Week
Every week over the past two years, I have watched a sunrise or sunset. Usually, it's the sunset since the sunrise can be ridiculously early in New England. Most weeks, I tend to watch the sun fall or rise more than once.
Why do I do it? The photos? Sure, they can often be photogenic sets. They can also encourage me to go to new places to watch the sun.
But for the most part, it is to slow down life. In a life full of podcasts, audiobooks, music, photography, and technology, the rising and setting of the sun is something that takes some time. There's no rush to it. It is a time where my mind can fully relax (even when I'm taking pictures) and I can think of all the things I'm grateful for. It allows me to put everything into perspective and reflect.
What are some of the things you do routinely to keep your life in order?
Anyone is welcome to join me on these watches! Just let me know.
Here is an album of some of the sunrises and sunsets.
