One Time at Band Camp...

There are certain things that you can try to replicate by doing it a million times but can never actually do it. One perfect example of this is shown in the picture above while playing darts at the GCB at Brown with my brother. So does that count as a double 15? I have never seen this happen before or to this day (besides a picture from a certain reader of this blog). It is something that I never expected to happen but turned out to be awesome.
Isn't that how the best things in life happen though? Unexpected, unplanned, and genuinely amazing. It is the mean reason I don't like passing opportunities to doing something outside of my normal routine is that I feel like I could be missing the chance at even greater opportunities, like throwing a dart at the tail of another dart. You never know what could happen! You could meet interesting people, see a marvelous scene, or experience something you have never have before and love it.
One of my biggest regret, if you can call it one, is not saying yes more often to opportunities to do something outside of my comfort levels. I certainly learned this lesson quickly with wonderful road trips around the country, moving to foreign place that turned out be pretty awesome, dancing and how you can be so bad and love it so much, and many other things.
So the next time you're asked to do something outside of your comfort zone, at least give it a second thought. But I tell myself "Just Do It". Thank you Nike.
I feel a need to make the title appropriate to the blog post so here it goes:
One time at band camp, a guy fainted during marching drills and he was in the percussion section (pit).
One time at band camp, DK said "If I wanted to listen to you, I would just read a fortune cookie" after I made a remark about him.
One time at band camp, I didn't put down my trombone from my ready/playing position all practice.
One time at band camp, I met some great people. (That's where you go "Awwww")
