Online Match Mischarge
Over a year ago, I wrote about online dating. After a few months of writing that post, many failures, lack of communication, lack of prospective dates, and other reasons, I decided to cancel all my online dating profiles including Match.com.
But it turns out I haven't been looking at my spending as tightly as I have thought. This is because Match.com has been charging me $101.94 every 6 months since signing up for the service. I'm sure that I cancelled my service with them since I stopped receiving their daily emails since then. Hopefully I will resolve this with Match.com in the upcoming week and will update this post.
So after all my experiences with online dating, would I recommend it? I've read stories that went both ways. Personally, I hear people discuss about online dating with a stigma to it (mostly, "I would never think about doing online dating"); I don't think this is fair to online dating. I see online dating as a supplement to dating and it is an opportunity to meet people you may not meet in your busy life. Of course, it would definitely be easier if you are in an area that's more dense in population.
But there are effects of online dating that can take its toll: Lack of responses (an issue that's probably contributed to the terrible gender ratio), lack of potential candidates can be disheartening, and just the media seems too impersonal.
Of course, you have to come into it with a balance of expectations and enthusiasm.
