The People's Champ

Last night, I fulfilled one of my childhood dreams by going to WWE Monday Night RAW! It was my first real opportunity to go since I didn't have combination of transportation, money, or time to go before. And let me say this, times have changed! Triple-H no longer wrestles on a regular basis (He's the COO or something), a girl is interested in Kane, and the show is more PG (Not a bad thing). I used to be obsessed with the WWF (Yes, I mean WWF not this silly WWE) to the point I was looking searching for updates on a WWF video game (No Mercy, which may be the best game of all time) daily and going into the 20th page of Google searches.
It may be because I'm more mature (maybe just older) but the ring and stage seemed much smaller than I expected. Maybe the camera angles are done such that it just seems because on television. Another thing about watching on TV is the commentary; there is no commentary by J.R. or the Jerry The King Lawler in the live experience, which made it less interesting. But the ring announcer, Lilian Garcia, played a much bigger role than I expected and is surprisingly looking amazing still. I don't know if I was emotionally involved with wrestling as the children I saw yesterday (Probably not) but they really got into it and gave me a couple of death scares while chanting for the "bad guy" especially rooting against John Cena.
While John Cena is a huge superstar, he doesn't compare to the greatness of the People's Champ, The Rock. While Cena did an impressive analogy using Star Wars, The Rock had charisma, energy, and charm that Cena just can't match. Maybe that's why Dwayne Johnson is in the movies (I know Cena tried the movie thing) and such. It's impressive the mark The Rock left in the business and still a major figure for the company. Too bad the younger children didn't get to the see the People's Elbow, People's Eyebrow, Rock Bottom, and all the Jabroni's he defeated. I'm sad I never got to smell what The Rock was cooking last night.
