Personal Responsibility

Personal responsibility is effortless when there is to something to benefit from or to be rewarded for. But what makes someone distinguished is how they handle personal responsibility when it comes to accepting negative consequences or sharing the praise with others. I seen so many occurrences where people refuse to acknowledge when their actions lead to something unfavorable. In a society where someone sues a company because hot coffee is hot, it's apparent that personal responsibility has gone downhill.

When you want something done right, do it yourself. If we don't like how political parties are pushed to the extremes of the two sides, we should vote for more moderate candidates in the primary; or better yet, become more informed about the government. When I'm tutoring/mentoring students, I try to push the importance of personal responsibility especially when they blame their teachers/parents/etc.

It's critical that we take responsibility for our own actions, thoughts, and decisions. Personal responsibility is one of the most essential traits to being an exceptional person. Praising others when it's due is also just as importance.
