Reddit Teachers 2013

Reddit has often had a poor reputation for being a waste of time and recently, a unreliable source of information that has led to misleading information like falsely identifying the Boston bombing suspect. To be honest, most of the front page of Reddit is filled with memes about personal events (sad and happy), links to articles about Internet privacy and religion (or the lack of), and of course cute animal pictures.
But once and a while, there is something with substance and provokes thoughts. Often, it is contained in AskReddit or AMA (Ask Me Anything), where you can find information/thoughts/perspectives that aren't written in mainstream articles. It just a bit more work to find these constructive conversations/articles.
Today, I encountered something I thought was a great idea: RedditGifts for the Teachers 2013. Where Redditors (and non-Redditors alike) can sign out to donate school supplies to teachers, while teachers sign up to receive supplies. This is great for individuals that don't have an easy way to donate supplies to their local schools (like at the Raytheon site I work at).
I've signed up! You should to!
