Review
Today at work, I walked into a peer review just like any other day. But this time, it was different. The projector was not on. There was no one accompanying the meeting room's computer nor a laptop in sight. Yes, I just walked into a review that was going to be held like the "good ole days" with only old fashioned printed paper. Luckily, I printed out majority of the material as I don't have a laptop momentarily.
I think the attendees were stunned by the lack of technology being used to hold the peer review to the point of speechlessness. And for engineers, that's an amazing feat. I can't even imagine how much paper they used back in the day (well, I can... And it's a ton!). It's definitely a disadvantage for attendees that weren't fully prepared for the meeting (which seems to becoming more common due to our busy work schedules). There was no real-time document changes so there was no playful mocking an engineer's grammatical/spelling errors. Without the projector displaying the section being discussed, it forces people to focus on the topic on hand and not in various side conversations; this aspect was splendid.
In other news, I'm in the lottery for Google I/O 2014!
