Right In The Toilet

Some things belong in the toilet and some things do not. I was reminded of this the other night. It was just like any other night where I'm dancing and showering to the music from my bathroom speaker and iPod. I finished showering, then flossed and brushed my teeth. Then, it happened. I went to turn my iPod and speaker off, and bam. The iPod somehow drops directly in the toilet. I didn't even notice it drops until it made the splash. I immediately got it out from the clean toilet and it barely touched the bottom of the toilet (Quick reaction, you know I'm a tennis player).
So what do you do in this situation? I dried as much as I could with a towel without pressing any of the buttons. Since it was on standby, I didn't want to activate the device that may cause more damage with the water in it. Being knowledgeable being an electrical engineer and going through this situation three times before with my iPod Nano (The third time, it didn't survive. I guess three cycles of the washer was enough to kill it), I knew not to use the device until all the moisture is off the device. How can one do this? You could leave your device in the sun (make sure the screen is facing down so it doesn't get damaged). A popular method of getting rid of the moisture is putting it in a container/bag of rice. This is what I did. Rice is amazing at getting moisture from the air. This is the reason why sometimes you see grains of rice on the bottom of saltshakers. 24 hours later in a bag of rice, my iPod functions just as before the toilet incident.
If you get your phone wet all the time, you may want to try Liquipel. I haven't tried it but it certainly looks promising.
Now, the real question is: Should I use the rice that touched the iPod that fell in toilet water?
