Sand Volleyball

Volleyball, one of my favorite sports during PE in my earlier years. It has slowly becoming part of my life again. As a natural born Rhode Island, I should love beach volleyball but I don't love it. I never really enjoyed getting down and dirty at the beach; I disliked the beach as a child because of the mess made by sand. The fact that chaotic planning a beach trip with so many kids (with my siblings and cousins) may have contributed my slightly negative thoughts about the beach growing up. Sand gets in every crevice of the body and any place you walk into. I would find sand months later in the car, the worst!
But I have come to terms with the beach; I may even like it more than the average person. I love the feeling of soft soft sand (without rocks). But I definitely dislike overcrowded beaching where you can't play any games and all you can do is lay two feet from strangers and have kids kick sand on you.
Today, we spent all afternoon playing sand volleyball. It's probably known as beach volleyball but I refuse to since we are nowhere close to a beach, here in the Midwest. Life is a beach, I'm just playing in the sand. There are no words to describe how we played! There is nothing like sand getting stuck to your body with the help with sweat. And what better way to try to become a single skin color instead of six. And it's always different playing sports with 5 other people; I grew up not playing many team games.
Time to root for those TinCaps!
